CUISINE & COOKING - 3RD GOOD REASON TO VISIT ZUMBERAK, IN NW CROATIA

After the magic potion in the introductory music article of this month's blog, follows of course - the real food.

Beside the hostel Flores here is also a rural household Podžumberak which prepares food according to traditional local recipes, or how they say, traditional cuisine with the addition of modern ingredients.

On the dining room of the rural household, as you can see in these pictures, you can order all 3 daily meals. The household Podžumberak prepares them mostly from their own produced food that is organically grown in their own fields in Žumberak. The household believes that the love and care with which they breed and cultivate fruits and vegetables in their garden is also felt in the quality of the food ready to be served. Authentic Žumberak fruits and vegetables are prepared by the old, traditional recipes as the basis of their cuisine.

Here I place pictures of all meals, from morning breakfast and dinner in the late evening, over the main meal for lunch, to the traditional Zumberak cakes for dessert, (here are included grebljica and buhtli), and the selection of various fruits from which the household produces various types of jams and juice syrups.

It is worth pointing out that if you come to Zumberak, it is the special recommendation to taste real Zumberak trouts of the excellent quality, which are bred in several fishponds in the area. It is the species of Californian rainbow trout that is being raised in Zumberak streams and ponds for more than 3 decades.

In these local lakes and rivers of Žumberak, as shown in this picture, you can also fish with fishing accessories and fishing permit.
